Neslandsvatn in Drangedal municipality was once a busier junction than it appears today. When the Sørlandsbanen first reached this far in 1927, the line continued south to Kragerø on the coast. In 1935 the main line was extended further west towards Arendal and eventually Kristiansand, and the branch to Kragerø became a side line. The Kragerøbanen served the coastal town for over sixty years before closing in 1989, a reminder that Norway's railway network was once denser than what the current map shows.
