Litlverivassforsen - Hidden Waterfall Hike

60 minutes
Litlverivassforsen sits at the edge of the Rago National Park in Nordland. This park is one of Norway's lesser-known gems. Most tourists have never heard of it.

The waterfall hike is normal demanding. It's nearly 6 kilometres one way with 550 metres of elevation gain. You'll need about 2.5 hours going up and 2 hours coming down. Plan for 6 hours total with breaks.

The trail starts as a forest road then climbs through swamps and dense woodland. After about 90 minutes you reach Grisrygg, which means pig ridge. From here you get an impressive view of Storskogsdalen valley and the meandering Nordfjordelva river below. The path continues along clifftops before descending to the waterfall itself. It's genuinely spectacular when you finally see it. The trail ends at Litlverivatnet lake.

To get there, drive 20 kilometres north from Fauske on the E6. Look for the Rago Nasjonalpark sign. Follow that road past the camping site to the car park. The hiking season runs from mid-June through September. Be aware this is proper mountain terrain.
