Kurøen is a small village farm and cultural centre on the sunny side of Rømsjøen, about 1 kilometer from Rømskog Kirke. The farm's history goes back to 1599.
In 1986, the Melleby siblings donated the farm to the municipality. In 2000 it was chosen as Rømskog's millennium site. The farmhouse was built in two stages, with a newer building placed on top of the older one. The barn dates from the 1800s, and there is also a timber woodshed, a storehouse, and a smithy.
During summer, from mid-June to mid-August, traditional sour cream porridge, cured meat, and waffles are served on Saturdays and Sundays. It is a quiet, idyllic spot, popular with families.
To get here, follow the signs from Fylkesvei 21 towards Rømskog Kirke and continue about 1 kilometer past the church. Total distance from the main road is about 2.5 kilometers.
