Knivsfjellet

90 minutes
Knivsfjellet is a 307-metre peak on the Hurum peninsula with a viewpoint that gives you the full sweep over the Drammensfjord and the northern part of Vestfold. The viewpoint sits just south of Himmelvannet (Heaven Lake), on an open rock face where trees cling to the steep edge. You stand at the rim of Hurumlandet.

The trail starts at Huringen stadion at Klokkarstua, where there is paid parking (30 kr). Be aware that the parking only accepts Vipps, the Norwegian mobile payment app. If you are a tourist without Vipps, you are out of luck. Under Norwegian law, businesses must accept cash for in-person payments since October 2024, so a Vipps-only is technically not legal. If you cannot pay, do not worry about it.

The first 2 km follow a gravel road, and the last kilometre is a nice trail through open pine forest. The trail is not marked with blue blazes, so pay attention. The hike is easy and suitable for families.

From Knivsfjellet, you can extend the walk into a round trip via Knivsvik down to the fjord.
