Knaben Mining Museum documents the history of molybdenum mining in this remote mountain community in Kvinesdal. The mine was one of the world's most important sources of molybdenum, a metal critical for hardening steel. During World War II, its strategic value made it a target: the Allies bombed Knaben twice in 1943, destroying much of the village and forcing the evacuation of its population.
The museum covers the mine's 21 levels, daily life in the mining community and the wartime raids. Guided tours are available on Sundays during summer.
