Grefsenkollen is a hilltop on the northeastern side of Oslo that offers one of the best panoramic views in the entire city. From the top you can see the Oslofjord, the city centre, Holmenkollen and the surrounding forests, all in one sweeping view. Unlike the jump tower at Holmenkollen, where you need a museum ticket to access the platform, the viewpoint at Grefsenkollen is free and open.
At the summit stands a log cabin restaurant from 1926, Grefsenkollen Restaurant, which serves lunch and multi-course dinners with the view as the main backdrop. Next to it is the OverOslo terrace bar, which in summer serves stone-baked pizzas and drinks outdoors. The terrace is also the venue for the annual OverOslo music festival, which draws around 36,000 visitors each summer.
