Kystmuseet sits on the island of Oen in an authentic maritime setting by Ovågen harbour. The main exhibition, "Life by the Sea", traces how the people of this exposed stretch of coast survived and adapted from the Ice Age through the fishing era, peat cutting, oil and gas, and into today's green energy transition.
The museum also holds a notable collection of around 40 historical outboard motors, charting the evolution of small-boat propulsion that transformed coastal life.
