Bardu Bygdetun

45 minutes
Bardu Bygdetun is a small open-air museum just south of Setermoen showing how the settlers from southern Norway lived when they arrived in Bardu in the late 1700s and 1800s. The buildings, mostly from the 1860s, are arranged to resemble a historic farm. The main building is a farmhouse from 1868. A small schoolroom from the early 1900s shows how eight to ten children in the district were taught together in a single room.

The museum is open in summer, typically late June through early August, on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:00 to 16:00. Staff dress in period clothing and serve traditional coffee and food. Outside the season, group visits can be arranged by phone. Even when closed, you can walk around the grounds and look at the buildings from outside.
